A stroke of insight

Or there and back again: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few neuroscientists would wish for: she had a stroke and witnessed the boundaries, set by the left cerebral cortex ..disappear. She experienced the ‘enormous and expansive universe’ where we live coming through the parallel portals of the right cerebral cortex, which was unaffected by the stroke. She returns to tell an astonishing tale.

I had similar feelings revealed by what I called a "chemolobotomy" when taking interferon with ribaviron. My world collapsed around me and I didn't "seem" to care. When "my-self" didn't matter, the world's integrity was obviously disturbed by human intervention and that fascinated me and led me to a media center where I could share my observations with other activists. Right after reading My Stroke of Insight I read A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink...
