Antidepressants

I think I like this guy! He certainly makes a convincing argument. He's saying that medication for depression (SSRIs, MAOIs and Tricyclics) may actually be turning single/acute episodes of depression into chronic conditions. I wonder what this means for children who are medicated for, what may only turn out to be, a rough period of adolescence ..that they would eventually outgrow.

  2. In my recent psych class we had to watch a documentary on the effects antidepressants have had on children. Really scary actually! Their side-effects that would come years after the medication were irreversible and then they needed more medication for their side-effects! It's a prescription frenzy out there.

  3. ecelliam ~ in my humble opinion, doctors over-prescribe and people want a quick remedy for themselves and their children so they can get back to their regimen.
